The Gill Wetter "Your Local Fishing News"
Capt. David Baxley - Headhunter Outdoors, Now let's
talk about hunting. General gun deer season started Oct.15th.
Remember to wear your blaze orange, it's the law. If you still
hunt it's time to give your stand and safety harnesses a good
checkout before heading to the woods. If you don't have a harness,
get one .A fall can at the least ruin you're day and could cost
you you're life. Be sure of you're target before you shoot too.
Dog hunters take note too. The excitement of the hunt can sometime
get to you so be sure of what's behind that deer you're shooting
at. You're buddy won't be happy with a hole in his truck and it's
dangerous as well.
On one other note folks, deer hounds can and do get lost from
time to time. If one shows up at you're place don't run it off
.Give the hound some water and check it's collar for the owners
phone number. A good hound is worth its weight in gold to the
owner and you will probably make a new friend by taking a little
time to take care of the dog for him. A buddy of mine had a dog
show up in Burgaw and they were hunting in Hampstead.
Well that's it for this week folks, remember take a kid hunting
or fishing it's worth it. Capt. David Baxley - Headhunter Outdoors

Hi folks Capt. David Baxley - Headhunter Outdoors with this weeks
outdoors report. In the near future I will be interviewing one of
our local wildlife officers and will try to pass on some great info
for our local sportsmen and women. The next hunter safety course
will be held on Dec.12-14. Contact NCWRC Officer Doug Jones at 910-270-1042
for more info.
All you duck hunters its time to get your mess together!! Get the
boat cleaned up and get it running right. Check your waders for
leaks and touch up those decoys. Season comes in on Nov.11 till
Dec.3. On a lighter note, I finally one-upped my buddy that I wrote
about in last week's column but I can't rub it in cause he's gone
to Montana for 10 days. That's O.K. because I got a 165lb. 7 point
buck on Saturday and I'll show him when he gets back. Remember to
send some pictures of your fish or game to me or the Gill Wetter
and we will try to put them on the outdoors page. Well that's for
this week so here's hoping all ya'll tight lines or a buck in your
scope.

Capt. David Baxley Headhunter Outdoors 910-329-0818 - Monday, November
21, 2005 reports:
It doesn't get any better than it is now. Deer season is in and
the bucks are chasing does. Duck season is in and everything else
is in except turkeys. If you hunt, male or female, young or old,
novice or experienced, its HAPPYTIME!! If you don't know where to
hunt the NCDWR does an outstanding job of providing the citizen
of this state quality areas to pursue multiple species. Just be
careful out there. It's also turkey shoot season in the area for
3 dollars you get a chance to win a frozen turkey and a chance to
rib your buddies about outshooting them. The Surf City Fire Dept.
is holding their shoot at the corner of Hwy.50 and 210. The Turkey
Creek Fire Dept. is having theirs at the corner of Old Folkstone
road and Tar Landing road .The VFW on HWY. 17 is also holding a
shoot on Sat. nights. If you have a shotgun and want to support
a good cause try any of these shoots. If youv'e never been to one
you might be surprised how much fun it is for the whole family.
Well that's about it for this week and please send pictures of your
fish or game. Remember to be careful and safe out there and take
a kid hunting or fishing!
