Fishing Reports - Pender County
Surfcity & Topsail Island, NC
The Gill Wetter "Your Local Fishing News"
Hi folks Capt. David Baxley of HeadHunter Outdoors
with this weeks fishing report. The spots are still running in
good numbers and are in the surf and sound now. The topsail creek
channel at marker 98 and banks channel at the waterway are good
spots according to all the boats I have seen catching fish there
this week. The water is cooling off pretty fast with the temps
in the low to mid 60s now so if you want to stock the freezer
,now is the time. Va. mullet are biting in the sound and surf
also now. Shrimp and bloodworms seem to be working equally well
now on both spots and mullet. The point down at the south end
is producing some nice drum but its all about being there at the
right time. The dredge dock is giving up some nice specks in the
late evening and at night with a few drum mixed in.
The off shore is coming in with kings in the 5-10 mile range and
the false alberts showing up around the reefs and inlets. Watch
for birds or the water boiling. Wahoo and sailfish are in the
