People are still catching speckled trout and a few red drum in the surf. Inshore fishing is still very slow with still a few speckled trout and drum being caught. There are no reports for offshore and near shore fishing.
This week’s fishing tip: When fishing in shallow water it is very easy to spook fish out of a fishing hole. It is important to approach your spot quietly and slowly. Have your anchor ready and don’t throw it overboard. Let it down gently. Even dropping or slamming a cooler lid will scare fish away. Your boat is like an amplified drum. Talking loud or radios have no affect. Be sure you have a good anchor that won’t drag. If you have bait leftover, don’t throw it away. If it’s still in good condition, immediately after you get home, freeze it for another day. Shrimp and minnows are hard to come by at certain times of the year.
Keep fishing and stay safe.
