Offshore, people are reporting top water catches of king mackerel, wahoo and black and yellow fin tuna. On the bottom people are reporting catches of black bass, red and gag grouper as well as large scamps. Inshore, people are catching red and black drum, speckled trout, gray trout, a few small flounder, black bass, small croakers and Virginia mullet. On the piers people are catching croakers, blue fish, a few flounder and Virginia mullet. ishing tip of the week: For those of you with boats, be sure to check your battery connections. Take a small wire brush and clean the terminals and wire connections. I do this every six months.

Steve and Sharon Ely caught these nice Virginia mullet and gray trout aboard Affordable Charters.

Kim and Tammy of Carolina Beach had this nice catch of wahoo, king mackerel and grouper on an overnight trip to the Gulf Stream.

Offshore, on top there have been reports of small king mackerel, wahoo and some black fin. On the bottom, there have been reports of black bass and some grouper. Near shore there are still some gray trout, Virginia mullet and small black bass.
The waterways and basin are still producing some speckled trout, red drum and a few flounder are starting to bite.
In the river, some black drum are starting to bite. A few red drum, croakers, Virginia mullet, small black bass, shark, stingrays and skates.
Kure Beach pier will be opening up next week, so I will try to have a pier report ready.
