Fishing Report & Fishing Tip from Affordable Charters

December 19th, 2007 by Gillwetter Press | Comments Off

On the piers bluefish, a few Virginia mullet, croaker, & gray trout.

On the surf a few puppy drum, bluefish, speckled trout, & croaker.

Inshore waterways, river, & bays Virginia mullet, small red drum, small spot, black bass, striped bass, croaker, & speckled trout. Offshore on the bottom black bass, grouper, snapper, & scamp.

Offshore on the top king mackerel, blackfin tuna, & bluefin tuna.

Fishing tip of the week: My favorite way of fishing for striped bass since there are not as many as in past years, I like trolling for them. Depending on the depth of water you’re in determines the type of lure to use. After I locate the fish by trolling I pull up to that same spot & sneak my anchor overboard. A good all around lure is a mirror lure 52m11 (red head with white body). This lure has good all around effect on predator fish. Keep fishing & stay safe.

Affordable Charters Fishing Report

On the surf bluefish, croaker, red drum, speckled & gray trout, & some nice catches of Virginia mullet.

On the piers bluefish, croaker, gray trout, a few small flounder, & Virginia mullet.

Inshore red drum, speckled & gray trout, black bass, croaker, & Virginia mullet.

Offshore on the top good catches of blackfin tuna, & reports of some bluefin also. Offshore on the bottom grouper, snapper, scamp, & black bass.

This weeks fishing tip: Sometimes I have felt like going surf fishing for just an hour or two so I would take a small amount of bait, but then after 30 minutes of good fishing I am out of bait. But now you have “synthetic” alternatives to natural cut bait, bloodworms, or shrimp. I have tried them and they do work. So now I always keep a few bags in my tackle box. Island Tackle & Hardware has a large variety of Berkley Gulps or Fishbites. Keep fishing & stay safe.
