Affordable Charters Fishing Report 4-5-09
April 5th, 2009 by Gillwetter PressOn the piers starting to catch a few small bluefish, croaker, black drum, & a few Virginia mullet. In the surf some small black drum, bluefish, & an occasional puppy drum. In the river, bays, & waterways we’re catching a few small speckled trout, red drum, black drum, some small bluefish, croaker, & Virginia mullet.
Fishing tip of the week: The spring run of Virginia mullet is in high gear. You can go to the mouth of the Cape Fear on a falling tide. Try to stay out of the hard current. Fish with a double hooked pier rig with a 2 or 3 oz sinker. Use small shrimp for bait. This is a great fishing trip for kids because they won’t be bored. The action is pretty steady. Keep fishing & stay safe.
