On the piers some nice catches of spots, some Virginia mullet, bluefish, croaker, a few small flounder, & puppy drum.

In the surf some nice size Virginia mullet, spot, croaker, bluefish, speckled & gray trout, red drum & blowfish.

Inshore some good catches of speckled & gray trout, puppy drum, black drum, a few flounder, spot, Virginia mullet, croaker, bluefish, blowfish, stingrays, & skates.

Offshore no report.

Fishing tip of the week: We have had really good catches of trout this week using bottom drop rigs with strips of cut bait. The trout seem to strike when the bait is moving so you want to jig your rig up & down. The best spots for this is deep holes around Southport in the Cape Fear River. Keep fishing & stay safe.
