February 1st, 2010 by Gillwetter PressCatching some nice size stripped bass up around the Wilmington docks using large grubs & bucktails. There have been some reports of some speckled trout being caught in the Carolina Beach yacht basin & in the river around the dredge hole. Some nice size speckled trout are being caught around the Brunswick River area. Lets keep our fingers crossed & hope this water temperature doesn’t drop anymore so we can get out & catch some fish. Mike Johnson caught a red drum & a black drum while fishing aboard Affordable Charters.
Blast from the past. This was a good day fishing at the mouth of the Cape Fear River aboard Affordable Charters. We caught a cooler full of trout & Virginia mullet by using bottom rigs with cut bait.
