In the surf there have been reports of some large drum in the 15 to 20 lb. range. Due to the rough ocean the drum are coming in feeding off all the minnows heading out to sea. Also catching nice size pompano, a few Virginia mullet, bluefish, flounder, & black drum.

On the piers Virginia mullet, croaker, flounder, black drum, & bluefish. Inshore speckled trout, grey trout, flounder, red & black drum, small black bass, a few blowfish, pigfish, & some small spots.

Offshore on the bottom red & gag grouper, scamp, grunt, snapper, black bass & ringtails.

Fishing tip of the week: The minnows are on the move heading out into the ocean. There’s plenty of them so get out there & stock your freezers so you’ll have plenty of bait for the winter. They will start getting hard to find as the weather cools off. Keep fishing & stay safe.

On the piers a few spots, blowfish, Virginia mullet, croaker, pompano, small flounder, puppy drum, black drum, & blues.

In the surf pompano, Virginia mullet, a few red & black drum, bluefish, blowfish, some small flounder, & speckled trout.

Inshore gray trout, speckled trout, bluefish, flounder, blowfish, red & black drum, black bass, pigfish, & a few spots.

Offshore on the bottom black bass, red & gag grouper, scampi, grunt, snapper, & ringtail

Fishing tip of the week: Blowfish or some call them pufferfish are one of my favorite fish to eat. For those of you that have never tried blowfish you won’t believe how nice the meat looks & taste. This fish is very easy to clean. Make a 1/4 inch cut at the back of the head. Then slide a finger under the skin toward the back of the fish. You will see a large white chunk of meat. Just invert the fish & there it is. Try it you’ll be glad you did. Keep fishing & stay safe.

The fishing report is the same as last week even though the ocean has been considerably rougher. On the piers people are reporting catches of croaker, flounder, black drum, bluefish, sheepshead. In the surf people are catching flounder, bluefish, puppy drum, croaker, & Virginia mullet. Inshore people are reporting catches of large bluefish, speckled trout, red drum, flounder, croaker, Virginia mullet, & sheepshead. Offshore there are reports of king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, sailfish, & dolphin. On the bottom there are reports of amberjack, grouper, grunts, snapper, black bass, & pinkies.
Fishing tip of the week: The surf has been very rough this week but the wind has been directly out of the east so no current. This has made surf fishing a lot better for all the same species but much better quantities due to the heavy surf beating the sand fleas out of the sand. You may think it’s too rough for surf fishing but lots of times this makes the best conditions. Keep fishing & stay safe.

On the piers people are reporting catches of croaker, flounder, black drum, bluefish, sheepshead.

In the surf people are catching flounder bluefish, puppy drum, croaker, & Virginia mullet.

Inshore people are reporting catches of large bluefish, speckled trout, red drum, flounder, croaker, Virginia mullet, & sheepshead.

Offshore there are reports of king mackerel, spanish mackerel, sailfish, & dolphin.

On the bottom there are reports of amberjack, grouper, grunts, snapper, & black bass, & pinkies.

Fishing tip of the week: There is a big difference in casting a net for mullet minnows versus menhaden. For mullet minnows you want to pull the net as soon as the net hits the water as mullet minnows are a lot more agile than menhaden. For menhaden minnows you want to let the net sink to the bottom before you pull it in. Keep fishing and stay safe.

In the surf there are reports of bluefish, flounder, croaker, red drum, & a few Virginia mullet.

On the piers they are reporting catches of bluefish, flounder, sheepshead, croaker, small Virginia mullet, sharks, kings, & a few Spanish mackerel.

Inshore we have been catching red drum, speckled trout, flounder, croaker, a few Virginia mullet, bluefish, black drum, sheepshead, & a few pompano.

Offshore there are reports of king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, sailfish, & mahi mahi.

On the bottom there are reports of grouper, snapper, black bass, pinkies, ringtail, grunts, & shark.

Fishing tip of the week: The water temperature is very warm this time of year. (About 85 degrees) If you fish in 2 foot or less of water like I do quite often, this is not a good time of year as it gets 2 to 3 degrees warmer in shallow water. The water becomes stagnant & the oxygen level is dramatically reduced. The fish cannot breathe properly in hot water. Around this time of year try to stay in a little deeper water with some current. Keep fishing & stay safe.

In the surf we are catching blue fish, small virginia mullet, flounder, some puppy drum, croakers, and sharks.

Inshore flounder, red drum, speckled trout, some small cobia, virginia mullet, croakers, pompano, ladyfish, and sheepshead.

Offshore on top water king mackerel, dolphin, & sailfish.

On the bottom black bass.

On the piers they are catching croakers, blue fish, black drum, flounder, sheepshead, & spanish & king mackerel. flounder, grunts, grouper, and snappers.

This weeks fishing tip is on shallow water fishing. It is very easy to spook fish out of a fishing hole in shallow water. So it is important to approach your spot quietly and slowly. Have your anchor ready and don’t throw it overboard, let it down gently. Even dropping or slamming a cooler lid will scare fish away. Talking loud or radios have no affect. Be sure you have a good anchor that won’t drag. Keep fishing and be safe.

Offshore some nice catches of sailfish, gag & red grouper, red snapper, mahi mahi, black bass, cobia, dolphin, king mackerel, wahoo, & tuna.

On top near shore Spanish mackerel, bluefish, & king mackerel.

On the piers king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, flounder, puppy drum, small croaker, spots, sheepshead, tile fish & Virginia mullet.

In the surf some large pompano, bluefish, flounder, Virginia mullet, puppy drum, black drum, & shark.

Inshore the flounder are bigger than they have been, catfish, speckled trout, red drum, black drum, small croaker, bluefish, pompano, & shark.

This weeks fishing tip is about fishing line. There are a lot of different types of line on the market, so recommending one certain type would be hard to do. Most of the time it depends on fishing conditions or just personal preference. But no matter what kind you use, the sun will rot it very fast, so when you’re done fishing get your rod out of direct sun light and it will last a lot longer and the tinsel strength will stay consistent. On the piers they are catching a few flounder, some blue fish, small spots, and croakers.

In the surf they are catching flounder, a few virginia mullet, small puppy drum, blue fish, croaker, and sharks.

Inshore the flounder fishing has picked up a little bit. Still a few red drum, some speckled trout, small spots and croakers, and plenty of sharks.

Offshore king mackerel & dolphin.

On ledges catching nice grouper, black bass, grunts, and a mixed bag of bottom fish.

This weeks fishing tip is on casting. If your casting ability is not very good and you would like to improve it, it is very easy and fun to practice in your yard. Just set up a bucket or some sort of target and practice casting toward the target. Being able to cast to a strategic spot will greatly improve your catches. Keep fishing and be safe.

In the surf there are reports of puppy drum, flounder, bluefish, Virginia mullet, croaker, black drum, pompano, & spot.

On the piers they are reporting spot, flounder, Virginia mullet, bluefish, croaker, black drum, & a few sheepshead.

Offshore there are reports of king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, mahi mahi, sailfish, & cobia.

On the bottom they are catching black bass, grunt, gag & red grouper, snapper, & beeliners.

Inshore we are catching speckled trout, red drum, flounder, croaker, & large bluefish.

Fishing tip of the week: In the past two weeks juvenile shrimp have finally starting showing up. This is normally a sign of good fishing ahead. Mullet minnow should be starting to show up in large numbers at any time which will equal good fishing. Keep fishing & stay safe.
