Lots of fun and excitement on the flats boat in the shallow water. Remember the the reds will be biting strong all fall and into the winter. Just off the beach the Spanish bite has been hot. Lots of action trolling clark spoons, or casting jigs in the surface feeding fish. Carolina Explorer 8-7 Fishing Report: Redfish, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel, Big Sharks, and Various Others, Lots of fun in the Sun!!!

August 7th, 2012 by Capt. Robert Schoonmaker | Comments Off

Hello Everyone!! We have been catching fish and having fun on every trip. The flounder have been biting great just off the beach on the near shore wrecks and rocks.  Live mullet or pogies have been working the best for the flat fish.  We have been picking up some grey trout as well on the live bait and cut bait.  The Spanish mackerel remains strong with a majority of the fish being caught on Clark spoons trolling just off the beach. Plenty of cooler filling fun and great eating..  The big Sharks have been behind the shrimp boats with most fish in the 50lb to 70lb range. Drag burning, arm straining fun, close to shore.

Inshore we have been catching flounder and red fish on lures and live baits. Around the inlets and waterway the action has been taking place with live mullet or pogies on a Carolina rig on the bottom, for the flounder and reds.  Back in the Bays and Creeks we have been catching red fish on D.O.A grubs and Gulp shrimp rigged weedless to keep the grass off your hooks. The topwater bite in the early mornings have been producing some explosive action as well for the red fish. We have been picking up flounder and speckled trout on 3/8 jig heads and scented grubs along the creek banks and oyster points.

Give me a Call at 910-264-1807 if you want to get in on this great fishing action.  It is never to early to start planning your fall fishing trips as well.

David and Cody Wells enjoyed a great day of flounder fishing with 15keeper fish. As you can see we had several 4 pounders and lots in the 3lb to 2lb range. Always great to put long time friends on a mess of fish.
