CarolinaExplorer 10-3 fishing report: Red drum, black drum, trout, flounder, spanish mackerel, sharks, and various others are biting. Fall fishing is here, lets go!

October 3rd, 2014 by Capt. Robert Schoonmaker

Hello everyone,

Inshore we have been catching lots of red drum. Casting around the grass banks and oyster beds has been producing the best action. We can use live bait or lures, depending on your skill level. The trout are showing up, we have been catching them on jigs, mirro-lure, and live mullet. The flounder bit is still going on, live mullet on a carolina rig has been the deal. Fall fishing is in full swing. Now is the time to plan you Oct. and Nov. fishing trips. Give me a call at 910-264-1807.

A long the coast the big spanish mackerel, albacore, and blues are biting. We have been crusing the beach looking for fish feeding on top and casting spoons into the schools. Lots of fun. The Big Red drum are along the beach and around the inshore reefs. These are trophy fish and fight great. The grey trout bite has been good. I have been tagging fish for NC State, so if you catch a tagged fish, you get $100.00. A few flounder in the ocean and lots of sharks. Fall fishing is in full swing. Now is the time to plan you Oct. and Nov. fishing trips. Give me a call at 910-264-1807.

9-12 CaroinaExplorer fishing report: Fall fishing is here. Lots of red drum, flounder, trout showing up, blues, spanish, and various others.

September 11th, 2014 by Capt. Robert Schoonmaker

Inshore we have had a great bite on red drum. Mostly slot sized fish with some over slot fish in the mix. We are catching them on live bait or jigs and gulp. If you want to throw a topwater early in the morning we can do that also. The flounder have been biting on live mullet or pinfish on a carolina rig. We have been catching them inshore or on the nearshore wrecks and reefs. We have also landed a few on jigs and gulps. The trout have been biting soft plastics and mirro-lures early in the morning. This will only get better with the cooler weather. Now is the time to book you inshore fishing charter, Give me a call at 910-264-1807.

Just off the coast, we have had great catches of flounder, spanish mackerel, grey trout, bluefish, sharks, and lots of croakers. The flounder and grey trout have been biting mullet on carolina rigs. Sting silvers and buck tails will also fool these fish as well. The spanish and blues are heading south and feeding on the surface. Casting small spoons and reeling like crazy has produced the best action. We have also tangled with a few ladyfish as well. Now is the time to get in on this great fishing as everything is swimming south for the winter. Give me a call at 910-264-1807 and book your trip today.
