Hi folks, Capt.David with this weeks outdoors report. Well one of my buddies read last weeks column and called me to tell me how many he caught the other evening. The funny thing was that he had to wear 3 layers of clothes and didn’t dare get wet to catch a few fish! Now don’t get me wrong, this ole boy can catch a fish out of a 5 gallon bucket, but I ain’t that HARDCORE! Call me lazy if you want to, I just think I’m just smarter than the average bear. We have plenty of nice weather every year around these parts and I can catch a lot more fish when it’s warm. My freezer works all year long and vacuum packing is the best thing I’ve found to keep fish in the freezer for a long time.
Well as most of you can tell by my attitude the fishing sucks right now. It will get better my brothers and sisters, for Spring is just around the corner.
This week I would like to tell you folks about another place on the island that you will find extremely helpful. East Coast Sports in the Fishing village in Surf City. The Medlins and their staff are some of the most knowledgable and helpful of anyone around here. Doug and Chris and the family have been in the fishing business in these parts for so long that some wonder if they were here before the island was? Anyway whatever you need from fishing tackle to boat and dock supplies, these folks will be more than willing to help you out. Another good thing about the place is that if you hang around long enough you will here some tales, Some I know are true and some I don’t want to know! Just kidding folks these are good folks that will help you anyway they can so stop in and check them out while it’s not crowded!
That’s about all I can ramble on about for this week, In a holding pattern, mentally, waiting for turkey season. What’s a man to do! Anyhow thats it for this week, take a kid with you and be safe! Capt. David
