Headhunter Outdoors Report 5-29-07
May 29th, 2007 by Gillwetter PressHi folks Capt. David with this weeks outdoors report. If you ain’t fishing now, you are wrong! Everything you could possibly want to catch is biting. Offshore, inshore, in the surf or on a pier things are heating up. The bait is showing up and that means the fish ain’t far behind. The sound is full of reds and they are biting. I caught some huge Blues last week too. Those things were 10 lbs or better and would remove a finger if I wasn’t careful. Remember folks everything has teeth and will bite you. The Flounder are showing up as well. One of my buddies caught a nice 4 lb Trout in Howards creek the other day and missed a couple more.
Offshore the Cobia are showing up in greater numbers and the Kings are getting closer to the beach. It won’t be long before they will be catching them from the piers. Spanish mackeral are plentiful as well and the Blues are everywhere. I haven’t heard of any Tarpon yet but any day now we should start seeing them outside the surf. Most of them are heading to the Pamlico sound area to spawn. They have had a good fishery for tarpon up there for years and the word is just starting to get out. If you can’t get to Florida to battle a silver king, you can do it right here at home. See, thats another reason to call in sick to work one day! Well folks thats all the time I have for this, I gotta go fishing! Remember to be safe and take a kid with you. Capt. David
