Headhunter Outdoors Report 9-10-07

September 10th, 2007 by Gillwetter Press

Hi folks Capt. David here with this weeks outdoors report. Well the fishing is good and hunting season is in! Lets do the fishin’ first.
Offshore everything was biting till this weeks storm rolled through now it’s anybodys guess. When the seas lay down and folks can get out I’ll bet things haven’t changed much. The water will clear up in a few days and fishing usually gets better after a mild storm too. Check the weather forecast before you go out and be prepared in case something does happen.
Inshore the water is dirty but the fish are biting. Flounder and Redfish are laying all around the docks and in the creek mouths. Some Ladyfish are around along with Blues. The Trout are laying in the deep holes back in the creeks and are a sucker for a live Shrimp on a float rig in the early morning or late evening. The New river is full of Specks so try up around the bridge. I’ve been hearing of a few spots in the surf and the waterway, maybe it will not be long till the big ones start running. Folks as soon as it happens I’ll tell you. Be ready is my best advise!
I hope somebody got a deer Saturday and will send in a picture. I sat in a tree just about all day and saw nothing but birds. Deer-1 Capt. David-0. Thats why they call it hunting folks.Animals are a lot smarter than a lot of people give them credit for. How many of you could live in the woods without a house and in all weather conditions. The solitude and peace of the woods is something that touchs nonhunters and hunters alike. The hunting heritage and lifestyle is being lost in this country at an alarming pace and we as parents and grandparents need to pass it on to our young people. There is something to do besides computers,I-pods,Mp3′s Video games, cell phones, text messaging, and all the other things that clutter and complicate our lives. Enjoy the beauty and peace of the outdoors. The beach, the water,or the woods, get the kids and get out there. Folks we have plants and animals in the area that exist nowhere else on earth. Think about that! Well thats it for this week so be safe and take a kid with you.

Capt. David
