Headhunter Outdoors Report

Hi folks,

Capt. David here with this weeks outdoors report.

The fish are biting and if you ain’t fishing you are wrong! Spots are everywhere from the surf to the sound.

The piers are enjoying some nice runs and the folks fishing the waterway are also having some good fun. The Specks are showing up and some are nice fish. Howards creek and Utleys channel down at Rich’s inlet are hotspots,but there ain’t no telling where they will show up.

Folks are also catching Specks and Gray Trout in the surf along with Reds,Flounder and Blues.The Kings are still in close and folks are having a banner year catching them from the piers and boats. Some folks say it’s the best year for smokers they have ever seen! I could ramble on for hours about whats biting where but the best thing to do is just go fishing.

On the hunting side Duck season comes in on the 10th and I’ve already seen a few birds. If it gets cold up north it should push some birds down here. Keep your fingers crossed! Those of you who live close to or on the water be prepared for shooting to start at daylight on Saturday. We don’t get mad at you for firing up the lawnmower on Sunday morning at 6:00am.

Remember folks we have strict regulations on when and where we can shoot and we also have hunter harassment laws in North Carolina. Waterfowling has a long and rich history in N.C. and we want to preserve it for future generations.

As sportsmen and women we want the general public to be our friends.If you run into someone giving you a hard time for hunting don’t get into a confrontation with them. Leave and call a Wildlife officer and report it. Well folks thats about it for this week so be safe and take a kid with you.
