Hello everyone and sorry for the lack of reports this winter. As all of you know we have had a tough, cold winter and the fishing has suffered as a result. I am tired of complaining about the weather so I wont bore you with it here. It looks like it is back to the 70’s and 80’s here in Florida and the fishing should be back to normal until our return to Wilmington on March 20th. We have had a few good days in between the cold and were able to stick a few fish. I hope you.. Fished on the flats boat today with Robbie and Charles. We caught lots of redfish(18) on lures and sight casted to most of them. Robbie started off strong but Charles ended the day with the most fish caught. All of the fish were in the 20 to 24 inch range, just good slot sized fish. We are seeing lots of fish, the Redfish action is only going to get better with the warmer air and water temps. Now is the time to book your spring flats fishing trip. If I can help you with a Carolina Beach fishing charter or.. (Read More)- Fishing Report Deep Jigging 3-8-2010 Days #2 - Posted to LiveLine Charters Fishing Report by Gillwetter Press
Day #2 started with a stiff SW wind once we got offshore but still made it to the drop. The AJs were still hungry but I think the sharks were even more hungry. We had a lot of fish but a lot of tackle lost to the sharks. Caught plenty of sharks on jigs. The winds let off in the afternoon and caught another nice Cobia and also a African. The high light of the day was Ken breaking in his new Blue fin popping rod set up on a 9 foot 400 lb Hammerhead shark. After a 30.. Hi Folks,
It has been a long and cold winter, but they say spring is less than 2 weeks away. Judging by today’s weather and the temps forecast for the next week, maybe spring will arrive on time.Experience tells me that the fish seem to have a better understanding of when they should show up than the weather. So with that in mind it is certainly time to make final preparations for the spring run. Let’s see if I can make some good predictions as to what to expect over the next 30 days or so…..
Inshore: Some specks and a.. (Read More)- Affordable Charters Fishing Report 03-8-10 - Posted to Affordable Charters Fishing Report by Gillwetter Press
A few red drum are being caught in the surf & in the back bays. They are very hard to get to bite because of the water temperature so you have to move very slow with your presentation of bait. Catching a few small speckled trout in the Cape Fear River & in the boat basins on artificial bait. In the Cape Fear River up around Wilmington & in the Brunswick River catching some striped bass & some nice size speckled trout. At the mouth of the Cape Fear the spring run of Virginia mullet is just starting using.. The inshore fishing has been good recently for redfish in the backwaters of the Cape Fear area. We have had a couple of tough days mixed in with some good ones, but even on the tough days we have managed a few fish. The reds are schooled up on the flats and in the creeks and have been caught by blindcasting and sightcasting soft plastics and mud minnows on light jig heads.
On Febuary 20th I had Capt. Jeff Cronk and Darryl Marsh from Carolina Fishing TV on board filming for their most recent episode. We fished the backwaters of.. (Read More)- Topsail & Surf City Outdoors-Fishing Report 2-9-10 - Posted to Headhunter Outdoors Report by Gillwetter Press

Cape Fear Guide is reporting fishing action along the lower Cape Fear River is happening now,the bite is steadily improving with the cooler than normal temperatures.
This past week we had several weather fronts to pass through the Cape Fear Region causing the bite to be slowed, but that’s part of fishing. Red Drum, flounder, speckle trout, are being caught in the smaller creeks just off the river.
Capt.Mike Dennis offers some of the best hands on inshore guided charters in the Cape Fear Region, fishing on a.. (Read More)- Mullet Run=Great Fishing around Wrightsville Beach, NC - Posted to Captain Jot Owens Fishing Report by Gillwetter Press
Hello folks, I hope everyone is well and enjoying the cooler weather we have had lately. I have not really liked the stiff Northeast wind from it, but I like the cool morning temps. The cooler weather has really started to change the fishing in good way! The fall mullet run has started and with that the fishing has really picked up in the last few weeks! Let’s go over all that in this fishing report>>>
Flounder have been a big part of our charters lately. We are catching numbers and there size is getting.. (Read More)- Red Fish, Spanish, Trout, Flounder - 8/26/09 - Posted to Charlie\'s Charters Fishing Report by Gillwetter Press
The fishing is really starting to take off. We’ve had nice catches of over slot Red Fish, big Blues, huge Sharks and starting to see some really nice Speckled Trout. The Flounder bite is still going strong with some of these fish ranging from 2.5 to 9.5 lbs this past week. Now that we have some nice Finger Mullet around we should start seeing some good numbers and sizes of these fish. Right off shore about 2 miles we have been catching Spanish Mackerel in the 3 and 4 pound range, they have been a blast to sight cast to. .. Surprise, Surprise
The old adage of calm seas never made a skillful sailor certainly applied to Captain Logan of Standing Down Charters,
Holden Beach NC on Saturday’s trip out to the

Well it is time to start talking about winter time striper trips. As most of you know, the striper fishing out of Oregon Inlet over the past two winters has not been up to par. There were some fish around, but nothing like it used to be. The main body of fish have been staying off Virginia Beach due to the unusually warm winters we have had. With this in mind we have decided to have a boat.. (Read More)- Young Carolina Beach Angler Verses Blue Fish - Posted to Cape Fear Guide Videos by Gillwetter Press
