Seahawk Inshore Fishing Report 11/25/2007

November 25th, 2007 by Gillwetter Press | No Comments »

The shallow water redfishing has been really good lately. I have been catching good numbers of redfish in 6 to 12? of water. Most of the time the water is too shallow to work the trolling motor, so I am poling the boat to get to the fish. We have found schools of 20 to 50 fish pushing up wakes and boiling up the mud. Some of these fish are over the slot and all have been caught on artificials. On the days that I could not get on the flats and sight cast to reds we have been able to catch them working the oyster points.

On Sat. the 24th I had David from Conn. on the Ranger Banshee Extreme. The day started out slow, cold, and windy. After about two hours of working the trolling motor we finally located a school of reds and he caught around thirty fish. Many of the fish were in the four to six pound range. David had never caught a redfish before, now he has thirty under his belt. He also caught two speckled trout.

If you want to go shallow water redfishing give me a call. It is an awesome experience to see and catch these fish.

Thanks,
Jeff

Seahawk Inshore Fishing Report Nov. 16, 2007

The first trip in the new Ranger Banshee Extreme was very successful! We caught 27 reds and found two nice 30 to 40 fish schools in about eight inches of water. What an awesome fishing machine. The fishing has been good lately even though I did have one tough day last week trying to catch trout in the lower Cape Fear river. There are lots of reds, still some flounder and the trout bite should be getting better all the time. There are lots of virginia mullet and some gray trout nearshore and in the mouth of the Cape Fear River. There are also some striped bass showing up in the upper Cape Fear river. There is still some good fishing ahead for redfish and speckled trout. My best day ever for redfish was on Dec.10th.

Let’s go fishing,
Jeff
